Thanksgiving Party

We had our Skidmore Family Thanksgiving Party at our house this year. We weren't planning on having anyone over. We actually were planning on spending Thanksgiving with just Brady's brother at his house this year. The rest of the family had other plans so we figured it would be a small get together this year.
Unfortunately, Amanda, Brady's sister lost her baby at 20 weeks last week so that changed every one's plans. They had a small graveside service for baby Will on Tuesday. It was hard to see the tiny little casket and my heart ached for Amanda and Joel but we had peace in the knowledge that he is in heaven waiting for his family and they will be together forever. What a blessing the Plan of Salvation is at times like this in our lives.
So, since most of the family was in town we decided to adjust our Thanksgiving plans and include all those that were able to come. We were missing a couple of families so the normal "madness" wasn't as pronounced but we still got a little crazy! We're Skidmores, what else can we do but get a little crazy!!! Briella and Kylee, happy as two little piggies in a pile of mud just to be with each other! They spent the entire afternoon pretty much attached at the hip. They are just so cute together.
What else is there to do on Thanksgiving but play football? Don't worry, my nephew, Larsen doesn't take out Briella even though the picture looks like he is about to! Here are the "big kids" playing on the trampoline. We took turns throwing the ball at each of them to see who could get the best shot catching the ball. This one was my favorite. Larsen is getting some air, and yes he caught that one too!

Here are the "little kids" playing on the trampoline. They all had so much fun chasing each other in circles.

Movie time!
This is the "before" shot. You know, before the "after dinner nap"!

Brady decided to put Larsen to work. Since chopping wood is a usual job for a 9 year old, right? Look at all that wood he split behind him! Really, he just took a few whacks at the big stump and despite all the adults fears, no one, including Larsen was hurt.

The little girls kept busy with coloring. Here is Kylee making a masterpiece.
Overall, it was a nice party. I was really nervous about the weather. The weather man said we were going to get up to an inch of rain on Thanksgiving, which is almost unheard of here in Phoenix. I'm not sure what happened but we didn't get any on Thanksgiving. A few sprinkles the few days before and a few the day after but none on the big day, and nowhere near an inch. I wasn't quite sure what I was going to do with all those kids stuck in my house if we had rain. So, yahoo! No rain and lots of outdoor play! We even got to eat outside, since it still isn't even cold yet, mid 70's. (No, I'm not bragging to those of you stuck in snow, my sweaters miss me)
Now I get to break out my Christmas decorations (in 70 degree heat!) and get ready for our Skidmore Christmas Party!!!
