Hike

This last Saturday we decided to pack up the kids and drive to the desert and go for a hike. Since we didn't have any games or parties or work, we figured why not? It was a beautiful day for a hike and we got there just before sunset which made it even better.

It was a mile hike up a hillside. At the top was a 900 year old ruin from the local Hohokum tribe. It was interesting to see that they built their living spaces in a communal style. Their private areas were joined together with common rooms. Can't imagine sharing my living room with half my neighbors!

The ruin was built right on the hilltop with very steep sides. All I could think of while we were up there was how happy I was that Briella was in the backpack. Can you imagine having a toddler while your backyard is a steep cliff? A bit unnerving.

Of course we had to take advantage of the awesome views. The rock behind the kids in the next few pics looked like it was about to roll down the hillside any second. Pretty cool.

The kids did great on the hike, not too much fighting or complaining. Overall it was a fun little family activity.
