Fun-Filled Weekend

Boy, did we have a fun, busy, memorable weekend! First of all, my parents were able to come for a visit. It is always fun when they are here. The kids love getting their undivided attention. They all fight to play a game with Grandma. (she always lets them win:)
On Friday night we were able to go to the fun musical that the kids have been working on for the past two weeks with their cousins and friends. It was called, "My Body Machine" and it was so cute. It was all about eating healthy and our amazing bodies. Sherena had the idea to get the kids together to let them "experience the stage" :) She did a great job casting, staging, choreographing, and directing the whole show. The kids were great. I was a bit worried when I saw the dress rehearsal but it turned out MUCH better in the final show. Janessa was Milk, part of the "big 4" good guys. The other girl in the picture is Old Mother Grain. They had 2 songs and a handful of lines and did an awesome job.
Allana loved being a villain. She was Ms. Grease. Obviously her cohort was Sir Salty and the other villain, not pictured was King Sugar. The three of them were so funny and did a great job too.
On Saturday we had the wonderful opportunity to attend Robert's baptism. It was supposed to be a regular stake baptism but we found out just this week that our ward was the only ward with anyone getting baptized. So, Robert was able to choose who he wanted to give the talks and prayers. When we asked him who he wanted to do what. His first question was, "Who is going to be there?" So we started listing off his aunts, uncles and the parents of his friends that we knew were coming. His response was, "I want kids to do it all" So after the OK from the Bishop we asked all kids to participate. His friend Margret (8 yrs) said the opening prayer, Janessa (11 yrs)and Sunnee(10 yrs) said the talks and Jared (12 yrs) said the closing prayer. In Janessa's talk she also sang a Primary song and did a wonderful job. It really brought the spirit in the meeting.

Right after the baptism we had everyone stay for dinner and a birthday party for Robert. I figured it would be much easier to combine the two activities, baptism and birthday party. Rather than have two separate parties. We had Bar-B-Que Beef sandwiches, hot dogs, Bar-B-Que Beans, Taco salad, frog eye salad, chips and of course cake and ice cream. There was lots of food and lots of fun. Most of our family that lives close were able to come and a few of our good friends as well so it made it a special day.

We played some fun organized games. We played this one where the kids were supposed to stand back to back without using their hands and bring a balloon down the court. All the kids had a hard time, the balloon kept slipping out. Then little Briella and Kylee wanted a turn so I let them try. Wouldn't you know those little girls stuck that balloon between them then just walked down the court like it was nothing and got to the end the fastest of anyone and didn't drop the balloon once! I figured they are basically Siamese twins naturally, they just added a balloon this time :)
This is another game we played. Where they had to work as a team to get the little donut shape down the rope without moving their feet or touching the donut. They all did a great job working together instead of against each other. We also played kick ball with a beach ball. That was a big hit, or should I say a big Kick! Of course it was boys against the girls and it was a very heated competition. We had to stop the game for cake and ice cream and they almost didn't want to stop even for sweets! We all had lots of fun and enjoyed being together as friends and family.
My parents were able to stay for the whole weekend, coming to church with us and shopping and out to eat on Monday. They left early this morning and the house seems quiet without them. (even though it wasn't THEM making all the noise!)
I always love those busy, fun times in our lives but boy am I looking forward to next week when the kids start school!!!
